5 ways to repurpose items

There was A LOT of screaming.  I was convinced that for 7 years I’d turn into a hag with a third eye, a love for the outdoors, and a ban from HomeGoods.  Yes, I know that was oddly specific, but can you please focus with me here?  My husband broke a mirror.  Like, one of my FAVORITE mirrors.  So I screamed.  I cried.  And then I channeled my inner Joanna Gaines, and I had a light bulb moment.  REPURPOSE. IT.

I’ve always seen empty frames online, and thought they were super cute.  I just didn’t picture something so beautiful starting with such a tragedy.  And I can assure you, I still have two eyes.  And so for the first item on the list:

  1.  Broken Mirror (turned frame!)

Shown above is said mirror.  RIP World Market Mirror.  Meet Jessica, the new and improved empty frame!  Can you feel me smiling?  And no, I don’t usually name pieces of decor,  just go with me on this.  This beauty is now hanging in our guest bathroom downstairs.  So now I have another reason to take 5 trips to the bathroom in the middle of a movie.

     2. Galvanized hose bucket (turned newspaper holder!)

I found this on the clearance rack near the garden stuff at TJMAXX.  Clearance rack?  Nobody puts baby in the corner! I’ve been looking for something to hold all the newspapers that we plan to read while in the bathroom.  It was perfect.

    3.  Burlap Banner  (turned bedroom decor!)

Because it’s always a party in the Lopez household.  Ok, maybe not.  But after I placed those stuffed heads above their beds, I really needed something to fill that space.  I thought it was the perfect topping, and now my kids think it’s their birthday everyday.  And if you’re a normal human being, you can try one with colors for your kids bedroom.

    4.  Bulletin Board (turned necklace organizer!)

Ok, I’ve been doing this for years.  And, well, it’s the BEST. THING. EVER.  It’s so easy, convenient, and looks super cute.  I hated when I had all my jewelry in a box all tangled up where I couldn’t see it in the mornings.  Grab a board, get some tacks or hooks, and hang all your necklaces up.  You can also add bracelets too. You can get these boards anywhere including Target, Homegoods, Marshalls, TjMaxx, and Amazon.

   5.  Cake stand (turned book stand!)

Not using your cake stand and want to add some cute decor to your kitchen?  Throw some cookbooks on top of it.  I have my eye on some cookbooks I’d like to get just to display like this and this and this and lastly I can’t forget Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook.  I. LOVE. CHRISSY. TEIGEN.

So, moral of the story?  When life hands you lemons, make it a frame and hang it on the wall.
