10 Reasons To Check Out Painted Fox Home

I recently joined Instagram, and every day I discover new shops that I absolutely fall in love with.  One in particular, is Painted Fox Home.  Rarely do I find a store where I literally love almost everything I see.  Literally, everything.  They have everything from home decor, to lighting, furniture, bags, kitchen & dining stuff, window coverings…etc.

They have a very antique farmhouse vintage feel, and honestly some really unique finds.  They also have some great industrial pieces and lighting.  And while it was truly difficult to only highlight 10 things, below is just a taste of why I fell in love with Painted Fox Home.

1.  Bags

IMG_5252

First of all, I travel a lot, and I would definitely use every single one they have to offer.  Second of all, as a home decor junkie, I first saw this bag used as a home prop on a bench and was instantly in love.  It’s basically a 2 for 1.  And the only reason I haven’t bought one yet, is because I can’t decide on which one I like the best.  Check out all the bags with different colors and words and styles here.

2.  Cheeky Home Accents

IMG_5270

I instantly fell in love with this.  For those of you who aren’t Mean Girls fanatics, this is totally a reference.  And if you’ve read any of my other posts, you know how much I love cheeky home accessories.

IMG_5261

This one’s totally my second favorite.  You can get this here.

3.  Stop Watch Clock

IMG_5250

I love clocks, especially large wall clocks.  I thought this clock was super cute and unique, and if I didn’t already have multiple wall clocks, I would’ve bought it.  You can get this stop watch clock here.

4.  Cotton Decor

IMG_5269

I LOVE these!!!!

IMG_5268

They have more, but these are just a few of the ones I saw and loved.

IMG_5267

You can get these super cute cotton stems here.

IMG_5259

You can totally use this one outside, on your door, in your home, for the holidays, or really anywhere.  I love burlap, I love my neutrals, and these are seriously so cute.  Link is here.

IMG_5262

Lastly, another cotton wreath, but minus the burlap.  You can get this one here.

5. Sylvester Mirror

IMG_5260

I LOVE mirrors, and this rustic mirror isn’t like anything I have seen before.  You can get it here.

6.  Iris Wall Shelf

IMG_5263

I love wall shelves, and I love neutral colors.  These are beautiful, and you can get them here.

7.  Coat Rack

IMG_5264

I thought this was such a unique coat rack.  You can check it out and other angles here.  Such a cute idea.

8.  Oxford Roll

IMG_5255

I’m obsessed with brown paper.

IMG_5256

This would be such a cute addition to a kitchen, hallway, laundry room, or even a kid’s room.  Check it out here.

9.  Lighting

IMG_5253

I’m not even sure if this is my favorite, they have SO MANY great ones.  I love the industrial style.  You can get this one here, but check out all their lighting here.  They’re not just ceiling lights, they have wall, table, and standing lights.

10.  Cellar Tray

IMG_5254

This would look great on my farmhouse kitchen table, for organizing decor, serving cheese or bread, or many other things.  I LOVE trays, and I love this one.  Check it out here.

If You Love Michaels, Read This. 6 Tips For A Great Deal.

I’ve always loved Michaels.  In the past I have gone for DIY accessories, and all my baking needs.  And more recently, I’ve been going for all my framing needs. However, just a few weeks ago, the corner of my eye caught a glimpse of some of their home decor stuff.

IMG_4975

I was literally carrying two large heavy frames, about to walk out the door, and turned back just to walk down the aisle of Home Decor.

IMG_4976

Guys, they have really cute stuff.  Especially if you like farmhouse style Decor.  BUT, I was a little bummed how expensive everything was.  I’m so used to the great deals I get at HomeGoods, and I was not loving the prices.  However, I’ve learned that they ALWAYS have a sale, and you can ALWAYS use a coupon.  So if you’re not into paying full price for anything, and love Michaels, please read on.

1.  Coupons

IMG_4980

After most purchases in the store, you almost always get a coupon.  Save those, you can use them for the next purchase.  Sometimes they’re lame, sometimes they’re really good ones like 40% or 50% coupons.

2.  Online purchases are always cheaper

IMG_4979

Ok, so this is the big one.  Most of the good deals are online, and you will not see them in the store–AND you can combine both.  Just the other day I was about to buy a clock in the store that I saw was 40% off.

IMG_4904

Because I had been checking the website so often, I knew they had a 20% off sale (including sale items) that wasn’t available in the store.  So what did I do?  I literally bought it from my phone and did In Store Pickup.  If I purchased it in the store, it would have only been 40% off (gasp).  Moral of the story?  Check the website for all the good discounts.  That wall clock is still listed online for $80 (I got it for $32), you can check it out here.

3.  Email alerts

IMG_4977

If you don’t want to check the website everyday, sign up for email alerts for all the good discounts.  This is how I got my frames for so cheap, I did their buy one get the other 50% off sale.

4.  Price match

IMG_4978

Many of you may not know this, but Michael’s also offers a price match guarantee.  If you find the same thing at another retailer for cheaper, they will match it.

5.  Everyday Value

IMG_4981

They have stuff that’s always cheap and never goes on sale.  This is kind of like that section at Target when you first walk in.  You know what I’m talking about?  That super cheap section where everything is around a buck each?  I got a 12-pack of 16 ounce mason jars the other day for only $9.  Check out their website, they have a ton of stuff for just a dollar each too.

6.  Bulk packs

IMG_4982

Ok, this is not something I have utilized,  but I did notice they have.  So if you buy stuff in bulk, I see they have stuff for 50%.  I don’t have a ton of stuff I buy in bulk, but if you are into crafts or are a big DIYer, that’s probably something you should check out.

Alright guys, I wish I could’ve copy and pasted every single thing I loved on their website, but there were too many.  All the pictures (except the two in home pictures)  were taken from their website so check them out here.  And, no, I did not get paid to promote Michaels or any of the items here.

Deema

7 Reasons You Need A Letter Board In Your Life.

Have you seen those letter boards all over the internet?  If you haven’t, you are seriously missing out.  They have brought such joy to my life, almost more than my own children.  After obsessing over them for weeks, I finally bought one.  And I can assure you, I did not regret it.

IMG_4888

You want one?  I got mine at Amazon.  However, you can get them at Target or anywhere else you probably already shop anyway.  They come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors.  I got mine HERE, and it came with the board, 620 letters/numbers/symbols (lower and upper case), two letter bags, AND a lifetime warranty.  Not sure if you want one?  Let me convince you…

1.  Cost

They definitely don’t break the bank.  They start at $12.99, and I got the large one for $30.  There’s actually a larger one at Khol’s for $24.99.  However, the one from Amazon has 4 times as many letters/numbers/symbols included, and that’s important.  They also come with these little bags to store all those pieces in..

IMG_4887

2.  Reusable

IMG_4763

It’s really the gift that keeps on giving.  I just got mine 10 days ago and I’ve already changed the quote roughly 1,567 times.

3.  Easy

OMG, you have no idea.  Again, I’m reviewing the one I bought on Amazon.  It is incredibly easy to put the letters on and off.  They’re basically letters with something poking out the back like this..

IMG_4885

And you simply insert them into one of the lines on the board in half a second.  They go in and out super quick.

4.  Eye Candy

IMG_4881

No matter where you end up putting your sign, it really lightens up a room.  And depending on the quote, it’s really the central focus of a room.

5.  Totally versatile

IMG_4886

On the note of it lighting up a room, you can really move this from room to room, and from the wall  (yes it has a hook on the back), to a table, a shelf, a chair…etc.  You can use it for a grocery list, a menu, a to do list for the week, in your office…etc

6.  Great prop for pictures

IMG_4883

I’m already thinking of the different ways I can use this sign for guests, parties, and special occasions.  This really highlights a picture.  Look how it really lifts up my cheek bones, knocks years off my age, and makes me look super skinny.  It’s like magic.

7.  Drives Creativity

IMG_4850

Look, a ton of people use them for inspirational quotes, and I really love those.  However, sarcasm is more my style, and this board really gets me excited to share some of that dry humor.  And creativity is good for the brain, and since helping your brain is good, I’m convinced this letter board will make you live longer.  And well, that’s enough of a reason to buy one in my opinion.

Alright guys, go out and buy one.  I promise you won’t regret it.   And no, I did not get paid to review these.

Deema

5 Cute Travel Accessories You Need

You know how when the entire plane is empty and someone decides to sit next to you in the middle seat, because well, they’re obviously a savage.  And then they talk your ear off and show you a million pictures of their child?  Traveling can be hard.  Buy cute travel accessories.

I am currently in a hotel room, and I thought it would be fitting to share some fun Travel accessories that I’ve been eyeing for a long time.

1. Luggage Tag

IMG_4656

You know how you’re waiting at baggage claim and a bunch of suitcases have random markers?  But not like the cute ones, like the random ribbons, or God knows what else.  I don’t know about you, but I love luggage tags, and have yet to buy any.  And this was obviously made for me.  Check it out here.

2.  Travel bags

IMG_4633

I. Need. Every. Single. One. Of. These.  I don’t know about you, but I always use a random plastic bag for my laundry.  And that’s if I didn’t forget one.

IMG_4634

And I always wish I had a cover for my shoes, and everything else I pack.  And seriously these are the cutest things I have ever seen.  I first saw them online a month or so ago, and I’ve been obsessing since.  Check them out here.  And seriously, check out that entire site by Designs By Maria, they have super cute stuff.

3.  Weekender Bag

IMG_4636

Ok I have been in love with this bag for a month.  They literally have a TON of cute weekender bags.  To top it off, I’ve seen them placed as decor in homes on a cute bench or in an entryway.  So, it’s basically a two for one.

IMG_4635

You can get the bag here, but seriously, check out Painted Fox Home and their entire site.  They have a ton of cool stuff.

4.  Passport Cover

IMG_4641

Because who doesn’t need a cute passport cover?  And, looks like you’re in luck, it’s basically on clearance for $5.99, check it out here.

5.  Makeup Bag

IMG_4631

I know I’ve posted this before, but I don’t know why it has not gotten old.  And I’m pretty sure that list of people has gotten longer.  And every time I travel I wish I had it.  Check it out here.

I didn’t get paid to promote any of these products, I just have an online shopping problem.

Posters, But Like, For Adults (DIY)

You know how when you were a kid you had posters all over your wall and you thought it was the hottest thing ever?  That cheap wrinkled piece of paper was literally what made your room slightly more impressive than the kid from down the street.  But as an adult, it’s pretty tough to find some high quality wall decor that’s comparable at $5 or less.  Unfortunately, most of the ones I love, are super expensive.  And, well, I HATE paying full price for anything.  So how did I get the adult version of posters in my home for super cheap?  I totally have a DIY cheap solution for you in 4 simple steps.

**Bonus canvass option at the end, that costs a little bit more.

Step 1:  Digital Copy

IMG_4555

Search for the images you want, and then get a digital copy.  There are a TON of digital copies online, but I got mine specifically at a shop on Etsy called SMUZI.  You basically purchase the copy, and you get an instant download to your email.  This shop had them for $6 each, but 40% off if you buy 3, so I ended up ONLY paying $3.66 for each one.  Basically, peanuts.

Step 2: Print

IMG_4557

For printing, there are a ton of places online, but I chose Staples.  My prints were pretty large (18 X 24) and I got them printed for $14.99 each and they were literally done within the hour.

Step 3: Buy some frames

IMG_4556

I went to Michaels because they had a buy one, get one free deal.  I got two large (24X36, with a 18X24 Mat) frames for only $25 each with the deal.  The link for the frame is here.

Step 4:  Insert & ready to hang

IMG_4533

Put it in the frame, and hang it up.  Total cost? $43.60!  And guys, if you didn’t do it yourself, it would’ve cost WAY more.  And, you likely wouldn’t have found the size you wanted either.  You can find this download of Brigitte Bardot here.

A few others…

IMG_4532

This digital download above of Brigitte Bardot can be found here at this link.

IMG_4534

This picture of Naomi Campbell you can find here.

IMG_4560

And this badass Jack Nicholson photo, is here.  I got Jack larger at 24X36, so the frame I got was different.  And let me tell you something, don’t do the same mistake.

IMG_4369

I got a super cheap poster frame, and the cover is not glass.  So when you look at it from an angle, it looks a little wrinkled.  Don’t make the same mistake I did, make sure yours is always glass.

IMG_4553

Last, but definitely not least, I was literally obsessing over this Roger Moore print for months.  So I bought the digital copy at the same store here.  BUT, I live in California, and well, glass above your head is never a good idea when earthquakes happen.  So, I got this made on a canvass.  And, you can’t really tell, but this is huge.  It’s 36 X 36.

IMG_4550

I got this custom made on Shutterfly for $105 (including tax), and for the size and quality, that is super cheap.  All you do is upload the digital copy online and start selecting the sizes and materials you want. Be sure to look out for deals on Shutterfly, they have some every week.  That’s how I got the above print for 50% off.  Be patient, just check the site often.

Alright guys, I hope that was helpful.  I did not get paid to mention any of the above shops.  Oh, and if you’re good at taking photos, please call me.  I really need to up my game, it’s pathetic.

Love,
Deema

5 Essentials To Wrap Gifts For ANY Occasion

I don’t know about you, but the way I wrap gifts is a big deal to me.  There is seriously nothing worse than buying the perfect gift, wrapping it in some hideous paper, throwing it in some tacky gift bag, or even worse, (GASP) placing it the original bag you purchased it from.  Unless it’s some fancy brand with a super cute logo that you want to show off, no Susan, we don’t need to know you bought that frame from Target.  Please wrap that up like a proper adult.  And seriously?  Look like you put some effort into it.  Continue reading “5 Essentials To Wrap Gifts For ANY Occasion”

3 Simple Hacks To Hide Cords and Media Equipment

You know how sometimes you listen to sad music in your car to really get in the mood?  Except you’re at a stoplight thinking about the cords in your living room, and how they made you really sad this morning while you had your morning coffee and then you hear a loud honking noise and you’re like “OMG lady it’s only been 2 minutes!” And then you drive off, turn up the music and wipe the tears off your face?  Hypothetically speaking, I’m not crazy guys.

So it’s been a month since I started sharing ideas in this space.  And the most popular post has definitely been the 3 Simple Hacks For A Prettier Home.  And I thought since many of you are clearly on the same spectrum of psycho that I am, then you probably have nightmares about cords too, right?  Great, so here we go, 3 simple hacks to hide those hideous cords and media equipment in your home.

1.  Electronics Hider

IMG_4142

Ok, so I get that most TV stands have a cabinet to put this in and close the door.  And, yes, I have that in my living room.  However, I’m assuming many of you have TV’s that are not in your living room?  This DVR and Roku equipment has been sitting on the dresser in my bedroom taunting me for months.  It was a huge eye sore, and I hated it.  Luckily Covogoods on Etsy sells these custom electronics hider.

IMG_4164

So it’s basically a bunch of books that are carved out to cover your equipment.  It’s open from the side and from the back.

IMG_4163

And it folds into your equipment like this.

IMG_4166

Tada!  Yes, folks, all that stuff went inside.  The back and side are open.  Scroll down to #2 to see how I hid all the cords.

IMG_4168

This shop is super responsive, and you get to pick the colors and sizes of the books.  Check it out HERE, it’s amazing.  And no, I did not get paid to share that.  One other thing, you can place this vertically to cover those hideous wireless routers you may have exposed in your home for the internet.  I’m pretty sure that’s why the sides are exposed, I have mine placed horizontally.

2.  Zip Ties + Decorative Accessories

So we have a ton of cords from the DVR, to the router, to the Roku, and God knows what else.  How do we organize all that?  Super cheap zip ties folks.

IMG_4143

There would have been no way to hide all these cords if they weren’t bunched together.  You can get these zip ties HERE.  Top off the books with a clock, an extra book I had at home (because it wasn’t quite high enough), and bam, no more cords.

IMG_4169

Now in the picture below, I also had three different cords that I zip tied together.

IMG_4144

Then I placed a large stack of books, and topped it with a super cute set of iron glasses from Pottery Barn to hide it below.

IMG_4146

3.  Be creative w/ furniture or home accents

Lastly, sometimes you need something a little bit more dramatic than some simple zip ties and tiny accents.

IMG_4158

Every single night we sat down to watch TV, I would complain to my husband about these hideous cords.  I zip tied them, started to color one white to blend with the wall (yes, I know), and I was still super annoyed.  Like daydreaming at a stoplight annoyed.  So I did what any other normal person would do, I went to HomeGoods for some inspiration.

IMG_4157

At first I went in looking for a trunk or a bench, but I have one on the other side of my TV stand and I felt like that would be too much.  Then I passed by the basket section and a light bulb went off.  I grabbed some decorative pillows, got a super cute shawl, and called it a day.  No. More. Cords.  I was happy people.

In sum?  Buy some zip ties, cover that stuff up with some cute decor or furniture, and if you don’t have a media stand, buy that super cute electronics hider for your router or DVR equipment  And trust me, ignore the lady honking behind you, sometimes we all just need a minute, or two.

Love,
Deema
