7 Reasons You Need A Letter Board In Your Life.

Have you seen those letter boards all over the internet?  If you haven’t, you are seriously missing out.  They have brought such joy to my life, almost more than my own children.  After obsessing over them for weeks, I finally bought one.  And I can assure you, I did not regret it.

IMG_4888

You want one?  I got mine at Amazon.  However, you can get them at Target or anywhere else you probably already shop anyway.  They come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors.  I got mine HERE, and it came with the board, 620 letters/numbers/symbols (lower and upper case), two letter bags, AND a lifetime warranty.  Not sure if you want one?  Let me convince you…

1.  Cost

They definitely don’t break the bank.  They start at $12.99, and I got the large one for $30.  There’s actually a larger one at Khol’s for $24.99.  However, the one from Amazon has 4 times as many letters/numbers/symbols included, and that’s important.  They also come with these little bags to store all those pieces in..

2.  Reusable

IMG_4763

It’s really the gift that keeps on giving.  I just got mine 10 days ago and I’ve already changed the quote roughly 1,567 times.

3.  Easy

OMG, you have no idea.  Again, I’m reviewing the one I bought on Amazon.  It is incredibly easy to put the letters on and off.  They’re basically letters with something poking out the back like this..

IMG_4885

And you simply insert them into one of the lines on the board in half a second.  They go in and out super quick.

4.  Eye Candy

IMG_4881

No matter where you end up putting your sign, it really lightens up a room.  And depending on the quote, it’s really the central focus of a room.

5.  Totally versatile

IMG_4886

On the note of it lighting up a room, you can really move this from room to room, and from the wall  (yes it has a hook on the back), to a table, a shelf, a chair…etc.  You can use it for a grocery list, a menu, a to do list for the week, in your office…etc

6.  Great prop for pictures

IMG_4883

I’m already thinking of the different ways I can use this sign for guests, parties, and special occasions.  This really highlights a picture.  Look how it really lifts up my cheek bones, knocks years off my age, and makes me look super skinny.  It’s like magic.

7.  Drives Creativity

IMG_4850

Look, a ton of people use them for inspirational quotes, and I really love those.  However, sarcasm is more my style, and this board really gets me excited to share some of that dry humor.  And creativity is good for the brain, and since helping your brain is good, I’m convinced this letter board will make you live longer.  And well, that’s enough of a reason to buy one in my opinion.

Alright guys, go out and buy one.  I promise you won’t regret it.   And no, I did not get paid to review these.

3 Simple Hacks To Hide Cords and Media Equipment

You know how sometimes you listen to sad music in your car to really get in the mood?  Except you’re at a stoplight thinking about the cords in your living room, and how they made you really sad this morning while you had your morning coffee and then you hear a loud honking noise and you’re like “OMG lady it’s only been 2 minutes!” And then you drive off, turn up the music and wipe the tears off your face?  Hypothetically speaking, I’m not crazy guys.

So it’s been a month since I started sharing ideas in this space.  And the most popular post has definitely been the 3 Simple Hacks For A Prettier Home.  And I thought since many of you are clearly on the same spectrum of psycho that I am, then you probably have nightmares about cords too, right?  Great, so here we go, 3 simple hacks to hide those hideous cords and media equipment in your home.

1.  Electronics Hider

IMG_4142

Ok, so I get that most TV stands have a cabinet to put this in and close the door.  And, yes, I have that in my living room.  However, I’m assuming many of you have TV’s that are not in your living room?  This DVR and Roku equipment has been sitting on the dresser in my bedroom taunting me for months.  It was a huge eye sore, and I hated it.  Luckily Covogoods on Etsy sells these custom electronics hider.

IMG_4164

So it’s basically a bunch of books that are carved out to cover your equipment.  It’s open from the side and from the back.

IMG_4163

And it folds into your equipment like this.

IMG_4166

Tada!  Yes, folks, all that stuff went inside.  The back and side are open.  Scroll down to #2 to see how I hid all the cords.

IMG_4168

This shop is super responsive, and you get to pick the colors and sizes of the books.  Check it out HERE, it’s amazing.  And no, I did not get paid to share that.  One other thing, you can place this vertically to cover those hideous wireless routers you may have exposed in your home for the internet.  I’m pretty sure that’s why the sides are exposed, I have mine placed horizontally.

2.  Zip Ties + Decorative Accessories

So we have a ton of cords from the DVR, to the router, to the Roku, and God knows what else.  How do we organize all that?  Super cheap zip ties folks.

IMG_4143

There would have been no way to hide all these cords if they weren’t bunched together.  You can get these zip ties HERE.  Top off the books with a clock, an extra book I had at home (because it wasn’t quite high enough), and bam, no more cords.

IMG_4169

Now in the picture below, I also had three different cords that I zip tied together.

IMG_4144

Then I placed a large stack of books, and topped it with a super cute set of iron glasses from Pottery Barn to hide it below.

3.  Be creative w/ furniture or home accents

Lastly, sometimes you need something a little bit more dramatic than some simple zip ties and tiny accents.

IMG_4158

Every single night we sat down to watch TV, I would complain to my husband about these hideous cords.  I zip tied them, started to color one white to blend with the wall (yes, I know), and I was still super annoyed.  Like daydreaming at a stoplight annoyed.  So I did what any other normal person would do, I went to HomeGoods for some inspiration.

IMG_4157

At first I went in looking for a trunk or a bench, but I have one on the other side of my TV stand and I felt like that would be too much.  Then I passed by the basket section and a light bulb went off.  I grabbed some decorative pillows, got a super cute shawl, and called it a day.  No. More. Cords.  I was happy people.

In sum?  Buy some zip ties, cover that stuff up with some cute decor or furniture, and if you don’t have a media stand, buy that super cute electronics hider for your router or DVR equipment  And trust me, ignore the lady honking behind you, sometimes we all just need a minute, or two.

3 Simple Hacks For A Prettier Home

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for little things I can do to make my home look just a little bit better.  Luckily I’m the daughter of a mom that is a bundle of OCD.  She’s shared a ton of tips over the years, and while I’m not quite at her level of matching spices and clothes hangers, I may be on my path to getting there.

You want cute optics?  I’m about to blow your mind with three simple hacks that will seriously, I mean seriously, make everything in your home look A LOT better.

1.  Labels

IMG_3412

You want a home that’s easy on the eyes?  Ya, that story doesn’t involve labels. Seriously, they’re ugly, they’re tacky, and they’re usually filled with pointless words, clutter, and unnecessary logos.  And, guys, they are honestly so easy to take off.  And for those that aren’t, please, you are an adult, you should own some Goo Gone.  I’m talking about doing something so simple, and making everything look so much cleaner.  REMOVE. THE. DAMN. LABELS.

IMG_3416

I’ve removed labels off deodorant, hand soap, dish soap, shampoos, and so many other containers and it looks so much cleaner.  It makes your home look like a HOME, and not like a pharmacy.  This is NOT Walgreens folks.

2.  Replacement containers and bottles

IMG_3414

LOOK. AT. THAT. EYE. SORE.  FYI,  I’m the kind of person that will skip out on a bottle of shampoo or lotion if the bottle is ugly.  However, I get that you are probably not on the same spectrum of psycho that I am.  Take my husband for example, he LOVES himself some Nivea.  Guys, Nivea is BLUE.  BLUE!  And, removing a label is just not enough for me.  Looking at that bottle every morning while I brushed my teeth didn’t make me happy.  You know what makes me happy?  This bottle.

IMG_3415

Look how much cleaner it looks in a separate container.  Everything now blends in.  It’s also super cute, and you can reuse it.  I also keep our Q-tips in this glass container.  You can get these anywhere, and they are so cheap.  I got mine at HomeGoods and the jar at Target.  Here’s another example in my mom’s bathroom.

IMG_3411

She has her cotton balls, Q-tips, and medicine in pedestaled apothecary jars.  I love these because they’re practical, organized, and look like decor.  Moral of the story?  If it came in something hideous, you need to put it in something beautiful.

3.  Colors (or not)

IMG_3418

My daughter broke her arm right before she turned two.  I asked if they offered neutral-colored casts, and my husband was mortified.  Get a bright color they said.  She will be happy they said.  I died a little inside that day.

Look, for the record, I love colors.  I’m just VERY particular about the pairings of the colors, and the shades.  Just look at these two sets of cups.  You have a pretty table set for dinner, do you want all these random colors all over the place?  Or a nice clean clear cup for the kiddos?

IMG_3420

And with that said, I’m very conscious of everything I buy.   Also, to avoid eye sores, I try to get all accessories for my home in neutral colors.  Yes, that means I have neutral colors for everything from my kitchen accessories like my dustpan or dish brush, to the toothbrushes in my bathroom, to the plates and cups we eat on, to the reusable grocery bags we use.

IMG_3421

Alright, now roll up your sleeves, grab some Goo Gone, and get to work.  I promise you, you will thank me.  Oh, and  this guy is seriously my spirit animal.

Love,

Deema
