Last week I painted my living room a beautiful black color that completely transformed the space. And once I saw how good that looked, I had to continue into the kitchen. Ok, not the entire kitchen, just the trim work (full video here). Among that trim work, was a beautiful french door that was screaming to be painted. Painting windows and doors can be a logistical nightmare, but luckily the internet had the best hack.

Clean the door/window well
Basic glass cleaner (or soap and water) will do.
Apply Liquid Mask & Peel
This is what I used, I’ve linked it here.
This is the paint brush I used and loved, but feel free to use whatever brush you like. Start along the sides of the window and don’t even worry about getting it on the part you’re going to paint because this has primer in it, so it will actually help! Feel free to get messy.
Then put it all over the glass. And this is very important, MAKE SURE YOU APPLY A THICK LAYER. If you apply a thin layer, it will be incredibly tough to remove. The thicker the better.
It will dry clear and you will know it’s ready to paint.
Paint your windows and doors
Go ahead and start painting those windows and doors.
The fun part
Once your paint is dry, grab an exacto knife, or a box cutter. This is the one I used linked HERE. Trace all around the window carefully.
Peel it off and enjoy
And just like magic, it all comes right off.
Look at those crisp lines.
