It’s no secret my art addiction has skyrocketed the past few years, so don’t be surprised if you find me on an episode of Hoarders manically hugging all my art in the corner of a cluttered room. I’m fine, EVERYTHING IS FINE.
And look, I’m often joking that I’m running out of wall space, but honestly walls aren’t even my favorite spot to display art. Ok, I lied, I do love a good gallery wall.
But there is something so special about displaying art in unexpected places. And so if you’re looking for creative ways to infuse your personality into your home, keep reading.
- Display art on your Kitchen Island
I searched the internet for an example of art on a kitchen island, but I couldn’t find one. Am I really the first to put art on one? I’m sure this can’t be true. Either way, I absolutely LOVE how this turned out.
I thrifted these two pieces, and while I recommend using command strips, I ended up nailing these in. DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO.
2. Display art on a bench (or down low)
As Emily Henderson suggested, I went “too low.” I am so in love with this little moment.
I hung this up with command strips and it added such a sweet little touch to this corner.
3. Display art in front of a bookcase (or shelves)
As soon as our built-in bookcase was built, I knew I wanted to hang some art right in front of it.
I still stare at it while I’m working like a giddy school girl.
4. Display art in front of a window
I leaned this art on the window sill and absolutely adore it. However, I’ve seen others hang art in the middle of the window and it also looks fabulous.
5. Display art on the side (of the fridge, or a closet, or a bookshelf..etc)
I hang art on the side of everything, and so the side of the fridge wasn’t safe.
And neither was the side of this closet.
I have art on every side of this book case, and I can’t seem to stop.
The layers the art adds is so magical.
I love it from every angle.
6. Display art on a chair (or a bench!)
A smaller piece leaning on a stack of books on a chair, or on a bench, would also look great.
7. Display art inside of a closet
I smile at this piece every time I do a load of laundry.
8. Display art on a shelf
I love placing art on shelves, and love it even more when it’s layered behind something else.
Every shelf in my kitchen has art and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
9. Display art on top of a counter
There are so many ways to place art on the counter (or on a table or desk) and it makes such a big impact. And bonus, no nails necessary.
I have art on several counters in my home, including my nightstand.
10. Display art on a door
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I was able to salvage some old sketches my mom drew years ago. And while this one is stained, I couldn’t love it more. I put two nails (one on the door where the art is hung, and one on the top of the door), strung the ribbon around both, AND added command strips to keep it secure.
